How did you think of FudgeHim!?
In my Sophomore year of college I got in a huge fight with my boyfriend and we broke up. My girlfriends came over and brought me cookies and ice cream to try and make me feel better. As I was scooping out the last bite of Ben & Jerry's I thought that the packaging wasn't good enough— there should be breakup products that can help me better in my situation. I was looking at flavor names on ice cream site's and saw the flavor, "Carmel Fudge" and I immediately though of FudgeHim!. As for my ex? let's just say that "Lying Lemon" was inspired by him!
Why Jelly Beans?
If you watch the video when FudgeHim! was featured on TV, I have cookies. In order to maintain freshness and be able to go to the masses, I had to get creative. I was at Dylan's Candy in NYC and saw all the different cases of jelly beans and thought it was perfect because there are so many different flavors that can keep me busy to make up cute flavor names, such as "Banana Split—his assets" (for divorce) and "No more Rocky Road relationship".
This would be perfect as an Ice Cream, ever think of that?
OMG, absolutely. I went to the largest distributor of ice cream and made him sign a confidentiality agreement. He said it should be a frozen yogurt but I wasn't so sure. That is the problem, the ice cream industry is run by men and they don't get it— when a girl is crying her eyes out she wants the most premium fattening sugary food and will deal with the extra pounds later! I never wanted to get the girl fat, so I though that little sized or pint sized FudgeHim! delicious ice cream containers would be perfect. He told me to come back with $50,000. That's the thing about the ice cream industry, it is VERY hard to break into and I hope it happens one day. For now I am happy to have FudgeHim! jelly beans in cute flavor names with a healing greeting card on the jar that can go on desks, stay in lockers and be given and sent through the mail that doesn't melt!
